Portion of Murals by Athos Menaboni (circa 1939) before Restoration
This large stair hall was painted by Athos Menaboni for a home designed by Philip Shutze. It is one of his most cherished murals, and had fallen into extreme disrepair from years of water damage and subsequent staining, mold, and rot. The restoration was extensive, the goal being to reconstruct the way it must have appeared nearly seventy years ago.

Chinoiserie Mural by Athos Menaboni (Circa 1932) before Restoration
Menaboni’s Chinoiserie mural was commissioned by architect Philip Shutze in his renovation of this landmarked Atlanta home. As with the Dogwoods mural, it suffered significant damage as a result of leaks and unstable substrate.
